ESOP presented the presentation of the 2021 Prémio Abertura Award, at the Open Source Lisbon event, which this year took place for the second consecutive year, in a virtual form, with the presentation of the President of the Board, Gerardo Lisboa.

The winning entity of this edition was the Águas do Norte, S.A with the project “AdN4.0+: increasing the efficiency of services through the reengineering and dematerialization of processes”. 

An Honorable Mention was also awarded to ANPRI for the “Training Center of the National Association of Computer Teachers”; and the National Civil Identification and Authentication System of Cabo Verde (SNIAC), together with the National Press – Casa da Moeda, SA (INCM) for the project “Middleware for the use of electronic documents in Cape Verde.

Frederico Barros Lopes, Director of Information Systems and Technologies at Águas do Norte, thanked the award and explained: "It is an honor for Água do Norte to be nominated for the Prémio Abertura Award. To be recognized as an entity that stands out for its Digital Transformation strategy and for the use and adoption of Open Source technologies, and that contributes to its promotion, it is a huge satisfaction."

Águas do Norte emphasizes that the project AdN4.0+, was conceived to contribute to the national strategy of administrative modernization and digital transformation, proving to be essential the investment in information and communication systems that ensure the systematic and secure recording of information, its accessibility, its monitoring and the obtaining of data that support the decision-making processes in real time, greatly promoting the efficiency of the services provided, as well as promoting maximum transparency in the sharing of relevant information between Águas do Norte, SA and interested parties. The AdN4.0+ project has as main objectives to ensure the reduction of bureaucracy, the dematerialization of processes, the improvement of service quality and customer satisfaction, promoting participation/sharing, innovation and the provision of public services focused on a digital economy.

In terms of technology, were used solutions entirely based on Open Source software manufactured by the ESOP IPBrick Associate: the Unified Communications Center, the CallCenter software for its Unified Communications Center and a Document and Process Management application.

This edition of the Prémio Abertura Awards highlights the importance of Digital Transformation in all areas of economic activity, from professional training, to the lives of citizens and companies. Open Source technologies once again prove their worth as key elements of a strategy for the Digital Transformation of economic activity.
